Beauty & the Beast

The ‘Beast’ is a Spanish stealth slug, furtively climbing up the wall right next to the brightly-coloured beauty of a courgette flower.

They are apparently a super-breed and their increasing numbers are endangering our native molluscs, according to experts in the field.

I heard about them a while back and just googled ‘Spanish slug’ to find out more.  Had a quick look at a Daily Mail article which warned of ‘highly fertile breeds’ that will ‘overrun the country’ and smiled.  Illegal immigrants, terrorists, left-wingers, slugs.. so much to worry about.

Here’s a link to a bbc article for a more even-handed approach.
