Sunchoke Growing

Having only just discovered jerusalem artichokes a couple of years ago, I’ve gone from cautiously planting them in pots in the garden, to giving them a corner of their own at the allotment. They’ve got brambles growing on one side and paths on the other three so their prolific growth shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Like most other bits of my plot that corner is now covered by spent hops. For a while my plot was smelling a lot like a brewery, but the cold weather has put an end to that. Shame really, I’d come to really like the smell.  Which seems odd for someone not so keen on beer.
